OBTAINING A COPY OF VISUAL BASIC
To begin Adobe InDesign scripting you need to have a copy of Microsoft Visual Basic.
YOUR OPTIONS:
Purchase a copy of Microsoft Visual Basic 6. The program comes in several versions:
Learning Edition - everything you need for InDesign
Scripting
Professional Edition - for serious developers
Enterprise Edition - for multiuser developers and applications
Use Visual Basic for Applications included in Microsoft Office 97/2000/XP
Use the free 'Working Model' version. This version is included as a
CD-ROM in some Visual Basic beginner's books. The book 'The Complete Idiot's Guide
to Visual Basic 6' published by QUE includes this CD-ROM. Alternatively this version may
be downloaded from the Microsoft site. www.microsoft.com
Using the search facility on the home page enter Vb or Visual Basic. The file to
download is VBRun60sp5.exe.This working model version of Microsoft Visual Basic 6 is
designed to try before you buy. The compile feature is disabled.You are unable to compile
your InDesign Scripts into standalone executable (.exe) files.
