Configuring 40tude Dialog to filter spam

This page details how to configure 40tude Dialog 2.0 to filter e-mail marked as possible spam by MelbPC's mail server. Currently ??Spam?? is added at the beginning of the subject line so the filtering is based on this.

Step 1

Start Dialog and then Settings > Scoring and actions.

Step 2

Under the Scoring and action rules tab enter:

[email.*]

!move(Spam) Subject "??Spam??"

This means for all e-mail move to the Spam folder anything containing ??Spam?? in the subject line.

Step 3

Create a Spam folder - Group > Folders > New folder.

Enter a name - Spam in this example.

Step 4

If you routinely receive e-mail such as newsletters that are labelled with ??Spam?? you can create a filter to process it before the ??Spam?? filter.

Simply add an additional entry in Scoring and actions:

!move(Newsletter) From "mailouts@melbpc.org.au"

This moves any e-mail to the Newsletter folder when it's from mailouts@melbpc.org.au

Add it above the ??Spam?? filter as the filters operate from the top down.

Create a folder for these e-mails - Newsletter in this example.

Return to The Helpdesk.
