Boarding passes issued to the Nash family prior to embarkation. Maureen Nash and the three girls shared a 6 berth cabin with another family on B deck. Bill and Robin had a 4 berth cabin to themselves on D deck over the engine room. A Scottish man and his son were to have shared the cabin, but did not sail after the son fell on the gangway and broke his leg while boarding. |

Each person boarding the ship was given a Cinema pass which was valid for the duration of the voyage. Movies were shown every evening in one of the ship's lounges. |

The ship carried Chaplains from Roman Catholic and Church of England denominations on board. Services were held regularly in the ship's lounges. |

Ladies could make an appointment for the "Ladies' Hairdressing Saloon" on board the New Australia. The ship also catered for gentlemen with a barber's shop. There was also a shop near the Purser's Office where souvenirs of the ship could be purchased. |
