About the Linux Repository |
![]() |
The Melbourne PC User Group maintains a small repository of a number of selected Linux Distributions. This repository is located on a server within the internal network at Head Office, and is intended to provide members, particularly those using dialup or low quota broadband to connect to the internet, with easy access to a representative selection of Linux distributions. This arrangement helps preserve the MepbPC internet download quota, as downloads from the Linux Repository do not require access to the internet.
Members are welcome to "drop in" to the internet lounge and download one or more Linux .iso files required to burn a CD or DVD for subsequent testing and/or installation on their own personal computer. A mirror of the Linux repository is available for members to access during the Northern Suburbs Linux SIG meetings at Watsonia.
Selected Linux Distributions in the repository are also available to members as a CD or DVD for the same cost as the regular MelbPC Monthly Disk. Simply fill in the Linux Disk Order Form downloaded from here or contact the office.
