This is an X-Files story, it is a novelisation of an episode written by Darin Morgan.
The cover of this book is rather boring it is one of a series of X-files novelisations that came out in a big batch, this one being number 10. The cover comprises of a big X-Files logo abd a rather generic picture of Mulder and Scully.
I vaugly recall seeing this episode of the TV show, but I will give the rundown based on the book, not what I remeber of what was on TV. The story starts out with mulder off on a little trip to a small town where there have been a large number of UFO sightings in the last few days, while mulder is there there a series of deaths involving roaches starts to happen so he ends up on the case along with the local police.
Mulder contacts Scully several times and she give him plausable explanations for the deaths that all check out, but eventually shows up anyway. At some point the town goes into mass panic just prior to Scully showing up. Various things happen and the story climaxes in a lab that is researching methane as an alternative fuel source exploding and Mulder and Scully getting covered in various varieties of animal manure.
It is a very short book, about 110 pages in length and it has big writing. I read it spread over several short train trips, total reading time was a little over an hour, so basically it takes about the same ampunt of time to read one of these novelisations as it would to watch an episode of X-Files.
Based on the smallness of the book I believe it may actually be aimed at the young teen end of the market, not too sure how well they went as I found quite a few of these books at very low prices, regardless of this it is good for a quick read between major books to help cleanse the literary pallete.
