Orgy of the Blood Parasites - Jack Yeovil

Purchased this book purely for the B-Grade Horror factor of the title and cover art, I was expecting something very cheasy. It turned out to be a very well written horror novel that didn't take itself too seriously.

Jack Yeovil is actually Kim Newman, he admits this openly, it must be a name he uses when he wants to do something a little sillier than normal. I liked this book so much that I looked into picking up books by Kim Newman. The $4.00 spent was a good investment.

The plot revolves around a lab that is set up on a University campus that is raided by the local animal lib group. The Lab has been growing some interesting virus strains that they have been shooting up the cute little bunnies with, iteresting effects have been observed.

So the tree hugging hippies let the psycho bunnies out and infect a good deal of the campus, this leads to a quarantine situation and armed troops being deployed.

The infected individuals change into sex crazed killing machines and things get messy as the virus becomes intelegent.

A good book if you are after some good old messy fun.

Interestingly, some time after reading this novel a film called 28 days later came out in the cinemas. The start of that film could have been taken directly from this novel, the two stories do end up taking different paths but there are a lot of parallels between the two stories.
