Knights of the Blood

Not too sure how to review this one, I enjoyed the book, but about the only way I can think to review it is to do an overview. This will jump around a bit .

An LAPD officer investigating a series of strange murders follows a series of clues that lead him ever further back through time, as far back as the crusades.

It all starts when a group of crusading knights are on the trail of a warlord who has been committing atrocities, the Warlord turns out to be a Vampire. The crusaders believe that the only way to set things right is to take the warlords blood into themselves for some reason. This leads to them in turn becoming vampires. The vampire knights are banished from the holy land and head back to their lord's castle in Germany.

They keep to themselves in the castle cursed to eternal life. They stay here until world war two when their castle is stumbled across by some SS troops. They figure out that the knights are vampire and manage to obtain blood from one of them, the unit become vampires.

The Nazi troops get away and start their own secret knightly brotherhood. The knights secretly start hunting them

1972 and a number of bizarre unsolved staking murders occur.

Present day, the staking murders have started again, the victims are all young fit men with blonde hair and blue eyes. Captain John Drummond of the LAPD is on the case and notices tattoos on the victims, further investigation reveals that they are SS tattoos so the obvious place to start looking is the local Neo-Nazi gangs, this draws a blank.

Eventually Drummond traces things back to the knightly order and takes a trip to Germany where he meets up with them and using a priest(who was a prisoner of the SS troops that discovered the castle) as a translator learns all about them.

There is a show down with the SS commander and his squad of punks, the knights are victorious and induct Drummond as a brother to help them hunt down the remaining Nazi soldiers.

This appears to be part of a series, the induction of Drummond is what originally lead me to believe this, further research has confirmed it.
