Star Wars - The Truce at Bakura

The emperor is dead, Darth Vader's remains have been barbequed, Ewoks have danced, and most of the rebel alliance has probably been partying way too hard all night and have to now deal with their collective hangovers. Unfortunately instead of being able to nurse their sore heads there is a situation to deal with.

An outdated imperial message drone comes within range of Endor asking for the emperor to assist with a situation in the distant system of Bakura. Plans are made to go and help the people and try to draw the system into the alliance. Luke wants to go save the universe from a nasty fate because Obi-wan tells him to.

Luke discovers that Force lightning is not really all that good for your health and spends the whole trip there in a Jedi healing trance. Somehow this also seems to actually make him competent as well by the time he gets there.

Temporary alliances are formed between the small imperial fleet that is there and the alliance task force to fight off an invasion by a race of lizard people that are harvesting people in order to use their life energies to power their warships. Much political wrangling and backstabbing takes place in between times.

This was one of the early extended universe novels, since it was published in 1994, and the first one was published in 1991. They seem to be getting published at an ever increasing rate as the years go on, so the rate of publishing was likely much slower to start with and as a result there was probably not very many others published before this one. This is probably not relevant at all, but since the novels are interconnected and are not allowed to contradict each other it would have been much less of a headache to avoid problems writing the novels early on.

Cover is not all that great, it scanned reasonably well, the faces are basically movie shots since it is based straight after Return of the Jedi, I assume the bracelet is an artistic impression of the one given to Leia by the Ewoks during the victory celebrations.
