Testing ...

Finally some decent rainfall in the avo and forecast of several days of it. A birthday present ??? :)

Today's bus ticket ... IF I rememeber to UPLOAD it to the correct location ...

Watched an interesting epsiode of 'Global Village' last night, Not sure where it was - Peru? Amazon rainforest anyways. And they were looking at the medicinal properties of various lianas. They also mentioned the hallucinogen Ayahuasca, which is actually a combination of a specfic liana and a specific leaf. Either one on their own has NO impact ... now how did they work that one out ... mere trial & error? ...

Ayahuasca links

Ayahuasca Icaro

One liana had a name which translated as 'the umbilical cord of the skies' ...

In the clear white circles of morning wonder
I take my place with the lord of the hills
And the blue-eyed soldiers stand slightly discolored
In neat little rows, sporting canvas frills

A couple more emails - about saving GWBASIC files in a special way so they can be viewed in a text viewer. Where is that manual I had back in the 'olden' days when all we had were 40 meg hard drives, 1 meg RAM and just DOS based programs ...

... oh plus Mandelbrot sites - must find the address of that fractal extreme software & their zoom movies ... I believe this is it - check next time online -

Fractal Extreme website

Plus - The Infinite Fractal

A bit of more of a search leads me to Ayahuasca Tales From The Amazon

This page mentions the umbilical liana ...

Been reading over the first few paragraphs in that fabulous Osho piece, What is Love? Relates to quite a few recent events & experiences ... if only we weren't such forgetful creatures ...

Also a very intriguing episode of 'Voyager' called 'Relativity' - again about time-travel but with some novel twists & paradoxes ... :)

For instance, meeting a 'future version' of yourself and discovering you are engaged in something you would never consider doing ... and being arrested in the 'present' for crimes 'you will commit' ... :)

... and 'temporal psychosis' from one too many jumps forward or backward in time ... hmmm ...

Some of the dialogue was noteworthy, something about being stranded in the late 20th century ... and needing months of rehabilitation to recover from the trauma ... I can relate to that! ... it's a particularly obnoxious timeframe ...

Here is a review of said episode ...

Another overview - hey, I can checkout the plots of upsoming episods ... or I can let them surprise me ...

A bit more random dialogue - "I'm happy doing what I'm doing. If it doesn't meet with your approvla, that's actually your problem, not mine. Maybe next time you come down to this planet you might try not to be such a control freak. You may find you have a more pleasant time of it ..."

Click and scroll down to today's tatts nos. I have a good feeling about these ... actually purchased a ticket for Saturday's draw ... :)

Can this really be 20 years ago! It seems like only yesterday ... :)

More random dialogue walking home from the shops ... if I ever get around to actually writing a vaguely coherent plot ... then again, every time I flick open CWG I wonder why I bother writing anything at all. Hard to improve on what's in that book ... and it's only volume I ...

"Worrying is NOT natural. It's very commonplace just at the moment, I'll grant you that. Worrying is an attempt to manipulate or control those around you. Naturally, most worriers would never admit this to be so or entertain such a notion for a millisecond. Few people seem to have the capacity to be brutally honest about their own (neurotic) behaviour." {Yes, where is that page in CWG abt this topic - click}

"I may not know much but I do know one thing. Genuinely happy people do not spend their entire lives worrying & trying to control those around them and judging the actions of others. If you are experiencing genuine happiness it literally would never occur to you to indulge in such destructive habits. So it's pretty fair to say most of the human population are not genuinely happy. Or if they are, it is usually a fleeting event and they soon settle back into their dysfunctional ways. Most are desperately trying to convince themsleves & each other that they are 'happy enough' ... it can be very depressing to witness ..."

"Modern families plan their famous guarantees of life."

Ah, just remembered ... I have a copy of Nels Mahjong on that CD ... and maybe next time I'm online I'll see if he's written anythink else 'lately' ...

... and ALL those wonderfully imaginative tile sets people created for his game ... :)

... and Moraff's SphereJongg ... :)

May do a screen capture if I remember ...

Just played my first one in maybe 3 or 4 years ... and solved it right off the bat ... as with GWBASIC, the fireworks was obviously written for the OLD 386 machines around 20 MHz compared with today's what is it ... 500 MHz ... amazing the difference 6 or 7 years has made ...

Interesting idea for a gwbas program ... see pixel44c ... but fill the screen at 'random' with various quotes and see them slowly 'dissolve' ... neat ... could use W$ variable or input from a data file ... probly easier ... than all you have to do is edit the data file rather than the BAS program ... first test was that passsage from Emissary of Light:

"True, or unconditional, love is unaware of the strange demands you impose on your relationships. Love is the same for all. Your attempts to reserve love for specific relationships and then withold it from others is the very thing that has blocked your vision of love's presence. Give as love gives - just as the sun that gives its light to all who ask, or the sparrow that sings not for the one who listens, but for the song itself. When you give love, love is your reward. When you judge some people as worthy of your giving and other people as undeserving, then it is you who is undeserving; not because you have been judged by love but because you have forgotten love's law."

"You, in your essence are the foundation of unconditional love. The water you give refreshes the whole universe, for you are not separate from one part of the universe but are intimately linked to all. Let your gift be free, then. Let it flow from you and wash over all those you see, all those who cross your path. Do not think that you cannot still have relationships that are more involved than others. Involvement has nothing to do with love. There will always be those in your life with whom you share the deeper pulse of your thoughts and those whom you do not. But the love you give is the same for each of them. It is but the recognition of the very same life of which you are continually reborn."

"Love is a knowing, a pure understanding. It knows that all things are whole, regardless of their appearance or delusion, and it gives itself wholly, without judgement, without recognizing the difference between this relationship or that. It understands that there is only one real relationship and it is the one we all share, the Self that is beyond the thought or the idea of Love, the holy encounter of life with life. The secret of unconditional love is that we are all the same, holy beyond imagination. This is what the release of fear reveals. This is what you are all looking for. And this is what you will find when you open your heart to every element of creation."

... also something I/we'd do well to bear in mind ...

I wonder how that particular book is faring in sunny Queensland ... :)

Speaking of words of wisdom, I opened up CWG again and read that section about there being 'no obligation whatsoever', which I resonate with but a lot of religionists would look aghast at the suggestion that that is how God views this whole process ... lemme see if that page is in my scans ... {if not, you could always plug the words 'conversations with god ' into a search engine like Google ...}

I also read the latest Gyuto monks newletter. Apparently August 24 is a BIG date on the Buddhist calendar - called 'Chokhor Duchen' - may look it up next time I happen to be online ... it mentioned something along the lines that the effects of actions are magnified 100,000 times, so it's an auspicious day to begin their 3-day retreat. On the other hand if you do something 'naughty' ... :)

Today's mantra: "People told me how to work from twenty knowledges of worlds"

mum666b.html ... it was bound to happen sooner or later - 'two seconds' & 'tedious' ... no doubt they'll do their usual freak out ... but as any enlightened master would say, 'nobody is responsible for your feelings but you' {and the nonsense you fill your head with} ... :)

Testing ...

Looking for links abt that 'no obligation' phrase ... click for some reviews/respones ...

Interestingly, this page - click - says Chokor Duchen is July 24th! ... :) I suppose it was 2500 years ago ...

Seems Nels has written a couple of other progs - click

If you was curious to learn a bit more abt the ancient game of mahjong ...

click here ...

Or here for another interstin page which mentions nels game ...

A bit more aimless meandering later, and I arrive at this page about cwg & questions we all have - scroll down to 'People hurt each other in relationships because they do' ... now, on the surface this sounds decidedly COLD-hearted doesn't it and of little comfort if you're in such a situation ... well, click to read a bit more ...

... could add that to one of my links pages ...

Here is one of those searches ...

Nice little hut ... :)

Tribal Site ... do you detect a theme in recent days ...

August 18, 2001   '

Blustery conditions continue ... not quite as much rain as we need but better than nothing and hopefully spring will be more 'typical' than winter has been ...

a bit more dialogue ... scribbled on a scrap ofpaper somewhere or other ...

Then I had another look over that Osho piece ... and very apt too {well, 'they' say nothing happens by accident } ... yes, scroll down to 'dwij' and 'only such a person feels grateful to the parents' ... :)

Yes, that's the ONLY true source of compassion ... I think there's a section in CWG where it asks 'How can I have compassion for something I haven't experienced personally' ... good question really ...

Caught an excellent doco on Fraser Island while channel surfing. I wasn't aware of the range of wildlife the island actually supports ... dingoes, turtles, goannas, kites, oyster catchers, even whales & dolphins ...

August 19, 2001   '

A bit more reading on recent themes/events/experiences ... click on image for the full double-page:

Page 124 about 'Let each person in relationship worry not about the other, but only, only, only about Self. This seems a strange teaching, for you have been told that in the highest form of relationship, one worries only about the other. Yet I tell you this: your focus upon the other - your obsession with the other - is what causes relationships to fail.'

... most people would regard that as an extremely radical view! :) ... esp if the 'relationship' is the one with God ...

... and for more day-to-day relationships, most people who are engaged in parenting would regard it as a ludicrous and even dangerous viewpoint ... :)

To be balanced ... I suppose I ought to include this diametric opposite view of Neale's books from a site called 'Spiritual counterfeit project' ... does raise interesting questions - click

... I mean ultimately if you cannot rely on some kind of 'internal compass', then whose version of the 'truth' do you embrace when they all {seemingly} contradict each other and all have their adherents ...

I suppose it also illlustrates perfectly that old adage that 'Reality is an interpretation'. I mean the question of which experience is 'right' - the person who reads Neale's books and says they sing to one's soul, or the person who reads them and declares them as fantasy or delusions ... :) ... or even 'trafficking with the dark side' ...

One could say that the 'heat' generated is also a perfect indicator of how attached we all can get to the illusion of 'being right' ... abd thus need ing to make someone else's picture of reality 'wrong' ...

I should aslo scan the cover of the latest Gyuto monks newsletter ... click

Overheard on the radio early this morning a poem called 'The tales we never hear' by John Shaw Nielson ... no luck finding it on the web so far ...

Actually wrote a little poem shortly after hearing that one, on a cold sunday morning ... yet wide awake early on in the day ... and here it is -

My little doctor plans from the old guarantees of life
Balanced delicately like a flea walking on a knife
Counting his payments as he scratches his nose
How long this will continue is something nobody knows

I am the ghost of all medical emergencies
I damaged my life in long forgotten centuries
This planet spins on a precisely measured angle
While human lives seem to be caught in a tangle

That last line could do with some tweaking ...

From a couple of recent emails & following the links pages ...

The meanings of flying dreams

Out of body experiences - an online book which mentions some interesting ideas/techniques, including being an 'astral social worker' ... :)

{Psst, he looks a lot like Phil from my 'Ideal Day Program' ... }

Today's mantra: "What other barnyards have we seen"

I told you the weather had been a bit wild - click ... :)

Reading over that earlier link abt Neale ... he does somewhat mock the idea of trust your feelings ... but if you kill off that notion, where do you turn? to some 'authority' ... but they all give divergent advice & interpretations, so where does that leave one ... terminally confused ... hmmm

PIXEL44E.BAS

More useful dialogue for you to use at your next dinner aprty:

"When you really look at it, it's amazing society works at all. And if you believe that life itself simply evolved by pure chance, then it's even more amazing ..."

From one recent link: 'Human beings have exhibited an extraordinary penchant for taking anything which renders them different, and allowing that to separate them' ...

And a bit further down the page ... 'It is our thoughts of separation—from each other and from God—which create all of our misery, all of our pain, all of our anguish, all of our loneliness and suffering—and all of our righteousness' ...

I don't know about anyone else but for me, those words ring with clarity & truth ...

Always bearing in mind, though, that reality is an interpretation ...

Even better than yesterday's - PIXEL44X.BAS - that's IF one remembers to UPLOAD it ...

... I could send the output to a data file - the 'random' words asre interestin ... XEKX ... YEST ... HOHKI ... UEKE ... RAM ... :)

Interesting (yes, i know i use that word a lot - no need to point that out) little doco on the Sikh religion in India on the ABC today. They actually do practice what they preach with large temples which distribute free meals to anyone who is in need ... in the Punjab ...

Wrote a couple more verses that I could send to the crew ... and yes, i know the following aint exactly a perfect illustration of non-dualistic equanimity but if we all held that view, we'd probly have literally nothing to SAY at all ... :)

Normal people are so scared
They're just like frightened little lambs
If you dare to behave in an original manner
They'll sedate you and tie your feet and hands

I just love being crazy
It's such a lot of fun
Try it yourself sometime
Just let your mind run

Um ... I did mention 'miracles' a few days ago ... well, I should include a link to the full 'story' behind these stats - click {hopefully, this remains a valid link} - the weather intervention was a big & timely factor but you have to ask if this is the most generous declaration in Test histroy? - I worked out the stats and with an average of 38 runs per wicket & 4 runs per over throughout the match, the target set was significantly LESS on both counts - 315 in abt 95 overs ... they all say Gilly is a nice guy but this might be goin a bit far ... :)

In fact, it's probly all this {arrogant} talk of a 5-0 clean sweep ... I mean there was no real need to declare at all except with this talk rattling around in your head ... in fact, if it had been a 2-1 scoreline, I doubt if they would have declared at all ...

Of course, being impartial, it's great to see a team which many have denigrated & maybe underestimated get up finally ... in sport, confidence can be a very strange beast ... :)

One could speculate as to how differnetly things may have transpired if Waugh hadn't done his leg ... Yet, one has to say that at 2/33 after half an hour and the new ball leaping around a bit, the decision looked okay ...

Still very chilly and showery ... looks as if the rain dances have worked ... reminds one of how winter is 'supposed to be' ... :)

Wrote another little poem walking home from the shops - with the possible title of 'Half-forgotten memories of the future' - and it goes a little something like this:

I am far crazier than you would ever imagine
My thoughts ricochet inside a chaotic engine
There is no real need to fret or worry
These conditions may change but not in a hurry

In any dispute that may arise between human beings
Either or both is clinging to unhealthy things
Where is the question of all your wanderings
Pling-pling-pling-pling-pling-pling-pling

{Recite this poem to everybody you meet for 26 days and soon you'll be amazed at the results }

I am questioned by many
Who have forgotten the penny
On Tuesdays they sleep in
To resolve this mess we're in

Plus a bit more added to my latest stockpile of meanderings ...

Finally gave 'Thick as a Brick' a rest and replaced it with a belated birthday treat - also from a similar 1970's era - the Best of the Doors - with a bonus CD of a few 'remixes' of the classic 'Riders on the Storm' ...

... some of which are 'out there' ... :)

... and quite mesmerising if you're IN the right frame of mind for them ...

Later in the day, posed my question/observation abt the declaration to Bill Frindall {again, asssuming that remains a valid link}

More emails ... seems I've boosted the sales of Cactus King by at least one copy ...

... plus that Tuva special, Genghis Blues - amazingly enough, the very first word my eyes fell upon as I opened up 'Last of the medicine men' was Tuva ... small world ... :)

Oh, plus I tweaked one of Mark's BAS creations to give him the due credit ... click

More evidence of a little too much time on my hands? ... I had never really watched this show b4 but the plot was rather thought-provoking ... we're so quick to label others as 'monsters' and so reluctant to examine the face in the mirror ...

Wrote another little poem while waiting for the bus ...

Modern Civilisation

Men and women love their own dollars
Walking around in tightly-buttoned collars
Pretending to be happy. Avoiding being sad.
Hoping they won't be one of the many who go mad.

The rain looks like clearing for a few days. Nice to see the sun after such a week! :)

Should scan or transcribe a paragraph on page 115 of CWG ... or next time I'm online plug 'conversations with god unattainable unavoidable' into Google ... then again if all that God says truly is unavoidable why point it out ... :)

More random dialogue scribbled dwon over the past couple of days -

"You're not happier than me. You're just better at pretending ... and I'm fast coming to the conclusion that that is not something to be envied ..."

"I'm not obsessed with DOING things like most people seem to be. In fact, the funny thing is that those who ARE obsessed with doing things are generally not happy. They keep on doing things in the hope it will distract them from how unhoppy they are ..."

Ooops ... I generated some keno numbers and wrote them down on my shoppin list - click and scroll down to list for August 20 - then TWICE today I was walking past the Tatts stand and kept on wlaking, fully intending to purchase a ticket later ... well ... SEVEN of the ten came out! which is about the best result so far ... apart from not actually receiving any dividend that is ... :)

Click and enter August 23, 2001 to see the 20 that came out ... I had this awful feeling as I watched them tumble out and figured quite a number of mine were appearing ... :)

Oh, be sure to click the downward arrow to select 'Keno' rather than Tattlostto ...

If you needed a few more sites to visit ... here's a list I received in the email today. Many are already amongst my links but many are not - click. Thanks to Dennis. :)

Dennis also sent a file of revelations of Jeremiah which I may stick somehwere also ... couldn't find the acual phrasings on the web ... may be part of Jimmy Twyman's site - click ... in fact it's eerily similar in theme to the cwg stuff I mentioned earlier ... maybe someon'es trying to tell me/us something ... :)

... and here is a link to that quote I aint yet typed up about 'unavoidable' ... amongst others ...

Click and scroll down to 'Serenity now. Insanity later' ... :)

Keen to make {instant} amends? ... click ... with a start like that and a lineup like that to follow ... who knows how many they can reach (0/102 & I for one had big doubts abt using Langer as an opener )

Note: that link almost certainly won't be 'valid' after Aug 27 - or whenever the match terminates ...

Interesting article about attitudes (& how arbitrary theu can be at times) - click

Had to tweak that TRIX4.BAS - I had omitted the palette commands to prevent screen filling up completely ... silly me! ...

May have to amend others as well. Hopefully not too many people's lives will be devastated by this omission ... :)

Still at my keyboard late into the evening ... 0/136 ... looks as if the little glitch is being rectified ...

Today's mantra: "I want to say some things which aren't even true"

Walking home from the shops, I reflected on the ways our use of language shapes our thoughts & emotions. We always speak of a person getting cancer. Never does anyone say creating cancer. In fact, most people would be shocked at such suggestion. Why would anyone create cancer within themselves? Good question. One may well ask why would anyone create hatred within themselves? Hatred is a poison. Literally. Yet millions do it and do their level best to pass it on to succeeding generations ...

A couple more emails ... and I really should check out a few of those sites sent to me yesterday ...

Saturday - almost took myself off to the aquarium again, but with dodgy weather forecast again for this week, I figured I better get out into the garden & do a bit of pruning & weeding. And I'm glad I did. So, the PC never got turned on at all ...

Looks like another curly decision looming ... and I am writing these words before it happens. Well, it may be a moot point if England scrounges 30 odd more runs. Anyway, as with India a few months ago, there is NO WAY I would invite them to follow on. It has been back-to-back matches and 400 means your bowlers have worked hard already {39 overs by your main weapon for instance}. And warm weather by London standards and you just never know what may transpire if you are set 150 or so on a 5th day wicket having fielded on FOUR consecutive days ...

In fact, I reflected on what a silly rule the follow-on is ... a SENSIBLE rule would simply be HALF of the first team's innings total. That makes sense. For example you make 240 & they make 41. You cannot make them follow on despite them making only one SIXTH of your score. Then this match where 440 in reply to 641 and you CAN make them follow on. But they have made about 69% of your score ... it's really a bit of a daft rule when you examine it ... like many of humanity's written & unwritten rules ... :)

Interesting doco on the Hubble telescope & how terrestrial-based telescopes see light from distant stars but only after it is heavily filtered by passing through all the layers of our atmosphere. They explained that the initial plan to build a telescope and put it into orbit was seen as quite loopy when it was first proposed ... :)

... plus the embarrassing early problems with the lens ...

Hubble repair

It seems as if those 'Riders on the Storm' remixes are becoming encoded into my consciousness. I have been humming and/or singing the lyrics a lot lately, especially walking around today (Saturday actually) as I did a spot more shopping ... ah shops, how could we live without them ... {so much for Thoreau & 'simplify, simplify' }

Yes, if I remember to put that CD on early in the morning as I lounge in bed, it seems to put me in the mood for a bit of chanting ... I really must record it on a good day - at times it flows effortlessly ... :)

... spontaneously & unrehearsed ... somewhat analogous to those 'peak performances' which seem to come out-of-the-blue and are maddeningly elusive - e.g. playing tennis or squash; some computer games like oilcap or doublink; studying; meditating; and for some of us maybe dancing or performing poetry etc ...

I ought to 'return' the favour by passing it on to a few people ...

Continuing the sporting theme on a rainy day - another interesting 'decision' looming. Next week Essendon plays Richmond. Now if they beat Richmond (as they always do) that would then allow Carlton to move to 4th and play Essendon in the first week of the finals. Given that carlton has twice beaten Essendon this season, there is an incetive to 'throw' the match agst Richmond in order to keep them in 4th ... I wonder what they'll do ... :)

Had an amazingly vivid dream last night. Well, many recently have been vivid but the details have generallt faded quickly after returning to ordinary waking consciousness. Anyway, in this dream I was enthusiastically explaining to 'someone' how vital dirt is to life on earth. It's something we all tend to take for granted but we need the dirt. If it were'nt for the dirt, no plants would be able to grow and there would be nothing for the bids and insects and animals and humans to eat in order to sustain their physical bodies. {Even carnivores require plants indirectly because their prey only survive by eating them}

Now, you may well ask who or what this 'someone else' was that I was explaining all this stuff to. I'll admit it's a good question. Perhaps it was an alien from another galaxy ... or perhaps a spirit being who has not (enjoyed) the experiences of physical incarnation before (or has subsequently forgotten) ... the possibilities are endless ... :)

Yet, should any of this life-giving dirt get on our clothing we shun it and dash off to wash the items immediately. Well, some of us do. We are such odd creatures when you stand back and look at it all ...

Interesting series in the local paper these past couple of weeks called 'Space 2001'. I should include a link to their website, probably www.heraldsun.com.au - apparently a bit of an online discussion area and maybe more details ...

Tiger island at dreamworld

After all that careful analysis I did in yesterday's journal ... I forgot to factor in rain and for the second match in a row it plays a big role. They just miss the follow on mark and it is enforced and then 4 hrs play lost to freshen up BOTH the bowlers & the wicket and judging by the scores, it's pretty much over before tea which wouldn't have bin the case if my advice had been followed ... :)

Space 2001 - may take a while to load with the graphics as you might expetc ...

Note: this link may no longer be 'valid' after the special series ends on abt Sept 2nd. If so, you could always email the herald sun site. I'm sure they'd love to hear from U.

Thought I may as well post something to the other crew too ...

Also decided to recommend the Global Book of Appreciation to spiritual sanctuary's growing list ... some of the sites listed also look worthy of ...

I honestly don't know how any of the actors can deliver the lines WITH a straight face ... :)

Click and scroll down to 'OBEs are a lot more than just pretend' ... :)

Plus the 'questioning' mentioned on that page is something I can sure relate to ...

Last night I re-formatted those links from Dennis ... a few look worthy of a peek and amazingly enuf one of them seems to be {I'm off-line as I type these words} that Interview with God ... or is it? because it's a marginally different address ... hmmm. Then again, of the 330 odd links, I was already familiar with dozens of them ... :)

Then i defrosted the fridge which was well & truly overdue ...

More proof I have WAY too much time on my hands ... :)

Click here to see what I mean ... mainly came about trying to find a way to post as 'one & a half' but with the proper symbol for a half ... it must be possible but i don't know enough html code ... :)

Note - you'll need to scroll down a bit to get to the spot ... and see if you can locate the 'invisible' link ...

One for Ripley's - for the second time in about a week (or maybe ten days) I roll up to the checkout in the supermarket, having grabbed some loose change from my pocket, and the amount I had in my hand was PRECISELY the total of the groceries! I hadn't tallied it in my head peior to the chackout at all. Now, if only I could be THAT psychic about the lotto numbers ...

Back online and yes, that 'interview with God' in Dennis' links IS the same as somebody else had sent me the SAME week in my email. Great minds think alike. :) The page is to allow you to select which language you prefer ...

Decided I just might add a few of the 'best' from this collection to my latest 'random' site generator ... and maybe shoot a few of them along to the Spiritual Sanctuary list which seems to be growing lately ... :)

On the other hand, the list already has my sites for sore minds which does link 'back' to the aforementioned list ... and if people are 'meant' to find it they will, I suppose ... :)

So I sent them these -

- The Esoteric Philosophy Homepage

- B E F O R E   T H E   B E G I N N I N G

- Home page of Ken Page & The Institute of Multidimensional Cellular Healing

- Afterlife Knowledge

- The Moment of Quantum Awakening

-

Some of which I had 'forgotten' about ... :)

And found that Ken's page (Ken Page, that is) has a couple of online books which address those pesky little questions of 'why am I here on earth?' & Walk-ins etc. So it was worth my while posting it to the guys.

Found this from a search of 'campfire under stars' and the Sacred Palces article is well worth a read or two ...
{Click on image if you feel so inclined}

Testing ...

NZ photos site - after seeng an excellent story about hiking around Lake Taupo last night on the telly ...

Some more interestin emails ... mainly about CWG and how it is still probably {out of ALL the stuff & books of the past couple of years} at the top of my list as being THE one I'd most likely take to a dessert island ... :)

Plus how a copy of it currently sits on my couch just waiting to be picked up & opened at 'random' ...

Along with some mention of mischievous imps and Au Revoir ... :)

katt44.html - finally CUT & pasted a few together from latest offerings/exchanges ... :)

There's also some stuff i scribbled down today walking home from the shops. Weather aint too bad compared with the hurricanes of last week and the phenomenal wind chill has gone ... :)

Some stuff about keeping one's consciousness anchored to the region commonly referred to as normality & how there are those who make a very different choice ... and their frequent frustrations as the mental health system tends to intervene - or indeed interfere - because people are so frightened ... it's a bit sad really ...

{So they may feel disinclined or overly cautious about fully exploring alternative levels of consciousness lest they be deemed to be 'losing touch' - SO, SO IRONIC! - and thus opening themselves up to the possibility of being sedated and locked away from the nice, normal folk so they won't upset them too much. Oh Geoff, you are wicked at times }

... but things are changing even if it's barely perceptible ...

That sheet of scribblings must be in my trouser pocket or somewhere, so you'll have to be patient ... or you could try a few of the links at the end of this page ...

Today's new word (from WORDS9.BAS): Gemivim
{feel free to make up your own definition}

A bit of playing around off-line and I discover that if one was so inclined to mischief, one could really stuff up the Forum in a BIG way ... by placing wingdings font in your name and leaving it like that ... hmmm ... :)

... or font SIZE or colour ... and the whole page would be like that ... :) ... white would really make it interesting ...

Naturally, I'm assuming that the online software doesn't do an 'auto correct' whenever font commands is entered ... it may well do ... :)

Ah! ... finally found how you do fractions in HTML - Click ... though i must confess I prefer the wingdings 'name' mentioned earlier as opposed to my initial idea of posting
as 1½

Today's mantra: "I used to believe in all the factual content of reality"

Going over the latest 'random' links ... added this one -

... as well as a couple of 'old' favourites that popped into my head last evening - Fusion Anomaly, DeoxyRiboNucleic HyperDimension, Divide by zero, and who could ever forget Starbuilders ... :)

In fact I'm just about at that point where I'm happy enough to shoot it off to the mob as either 1½ or IJ(['

Testing ...

Posters - can also be sent as e-cards ...

Speaking of Starbuilders, I just received notice in my email that there is a new edition of Federation Flash online ... it's usually a good read (which is of course in the eye of the beholder as always)

Took myself along to the aquarium again on a pleasant near-spring day in old Melbourne town. Somehow it always seems to get the little cogs in my head spinning around, which may or may not be a 'good' thing. I should have taken my camera along - they do change the fish and exhibits regularly. Oh well ...

On the train, a spot of reflecting on William Ricketts & Tenzin Palmo & others who have spend substantial periods of time AWAY from the maddening crowd ... and I honestly do not figure your average human being who conforms to arbitrary 'norms' of thinking & behaviour is TRULY happy ... there is a missing dimension of experience. Normality is insufficient. You can see it written on their faces ...

I found the jelly fish that floats around 'upside down' to be quite a meditative experience ... :) I highly recommend it. Next time, I may even 'capture' it on film. (Well, on digital format anyway)

Thinking a bit about what was in Tenzin Palmo's book 'Cave in the Snow' ... yes, apparently there are yogis whose entire training consists of saying in their minds 'I am aware that I am doing X' throughout the day. eg 'I am aware that I am walking' or 'I am aware that I am typing utter nonsense at my keyboard'. You get the idea ... :)

Watching all the pretty fish, my mind wandered back several months to those posts at the forum about goldfish and how their memories span all of 5 seconds. I mean what does a goldfish have to remember? Other goldfish's birthdays ... wedding anniversaries ... the theory of relativity ... how to program a VCR ... :)

THIS time, I actually listened to some of the reggae tracks at the museum ... not bad, I must say. In case I forget, here's a few choice words/phrases to plug into Google next time I'm online:

* EEK-A-MOUSE
* ZUNGGUZUNGGUGGUZUNGGUZENG
* TUFF GONG
* FREDDIE MCGREGOR (PHOTO)
* Bob Marley mystical wilderness

The headphones DO make a difference. I must remember that if/when I get around to some of my CD's ... like Flightwaves etc ... :)

The Aboriginal exhibit continues to be powerful ... you must get there next time you're down here in Autralia. Though it must be said MOST if not all countries currently occupied by white culture has an indigenous legacy. If you don't believe me, try one of Spiritual Sanctuary's pages I had a squiz at late last evening - click

In fact, that Spiritual Sanctuary main page has some neat stuff on it, esp the bits about letting go of this obsessive need we all seem to have of 'being right' ... :)

The painted stingrays hanging in the foyer are quite cute. Next time, I must remmeebr to snap a photo or two ... :)

More random 'dialogue' -

"Don't you see ... if human life arose by pure chance then there is absolutely NO reason why things should be any better than this. It's amazing things are as good as they are. In fact, when you look at it, it is utterly ASTONISHING things are even this good ... of course, if, on the other hand, we did NOT arise by sheer chance that is another story entirely ..."

"It's funny really. Whenever i listen to a heated exchange on any issue where public opinion is divided, I can't help chuckling at least a little. The ferocity with which people tend to defend or support their own particular view would suggest that opinions have some kind of validity. But the very fact that another person can be equally passionate and vehement about an alternate view must tell you something. It tells you that opinions by their very nature are an arbitrary personal interpretation of reality. Yet few people ever see their OWN opinions in this light, or else we wouldn't cling so tightly to them. We are quite deranged in our behaviour at times ..."

From a brochure in the aquarium foyer - Healesville sanctuary {check this link} ... well, lucky I did check it ... here is a more current link as of this evening August 30, 2001 A.D.

Oh yes, almost forgot. With this latest refugee crisis in the news {find a link?} ... and knee-jerk reactions far from compassionate ... I recalled that wonderful Tonglen meditation - for ALL parties involved. We DO tend to be selective in our 'compassion'. Maybe those who exhibit none actually need it the most ... as with love ...

Continuing one of today's earlier thoughts ... about the 'maddening crowd' and how in a very real sense the expereince of schizophrenia sets you on a similar path. Because you go through a period where your thinking & behaviour are so 'bizarre' in comparison with the vast mass of normal folk that you're disinclined to be around them. You feel like you scare them (fear of the unknown/unusual/unexpected) and they tend to bore you senseless or confuse the heck out of you ... so it is very akin to William Ricketts going off into the wilderness except that this is an internal wilderness ... Hey, that sounds like the start of something good ... :)

Seen in that light, one could say that schizophrenia is a gift {from your Higher Self}. Though I doubt if you will find too many shrinks at theis particular point in human history who'd endorse that view. Mind you, there are a few. I used to think there'd be NONE - until I found all these sites ... :)

Oh, I should mention the other 'bonus' - it gives you oodles of time to fill in and very little moolah to spend which just about forces an inner journey ... assuming of course you're fortunate enuf to NOT be medicated ... hard to undertake such a daunting trek with your senses dulled ...

Plus ... it just about removes or blocks off the usual avenues of external 'validation' - job, 'achievements', social 'status', money ... so you gotta find internal alternatives or go right off the deep end ...

Today's {mealtime} mantra: "I am aware that I am eating. I am aware that I am digesting. I am aware that blood is coursing through my veins, arteries & capillaries. I am aware that my internal organs are doing a wonderful job filtering all the nasties out of the food I have just eaten. I am aware that I should re-read certain sections of Deepak's book, Quantum Healing. I am aware that I am aware that I am aware ... "

Late into the evening when i expected to be a little drained ... as is often the case, quite the opposite, so I did a spot of cruising -

There was ONE hit of the whole internet for a reggae song title i listened to at the museum today ... it was ZUNGGUZUNGGUGGUZUNGGUZENG :)

It's not a bad little tune either - I quite enjoyed the little listen I gave it this avo ...

Yet EEK-A-MOUSE tosses up over 3600!

Reggae Fusion

Reggae photo gallery - some of the ones at the museum were/are classics ... esp Freddie McGregor, looking slightly 'manic' ... :)

From the aboriginal exhibits at the museum ... again found one hit searching for Niel Black's poignant words ... click & scroll down to 'provided the conscience of the party' {about 4 hits of the 'Page Down' key ought to do it}

Aboriginal art online

Dolphin postcard - after seeing an excellent one as I exited the aquarium ...

Double Mirrors

A search of 'Bob Marley mystical wilderness' leads me to this site

Also sent Tibetan Teachings on death & rebirth & What is love? along to the spiritual sanctuary links page. Looks as if a recent influx of suggestions has given rise to a tweaking of their categories ... :)

Pet Library

Also found a few excerpts from 'Cave in the Snow' ...

The Power of Mindfulness - from a search for Shantideva's advice about the 'wound of the mind', after visiting that Buddhist quote of the moment site for the first time in yonks ...

From DharmaGate, found this 'zen image' site - here is the first image I chanced upon ... :)

{Actually called 'PhotoDharma'} ... it has a rather interesting 'Zen button' ... :)

His mandalas aint too shabby either ... done over many hours in a meditative state ...

Excellent interview from one of today's links ... esp the final paragraph about 'My hope is that Christians of all persuasions will be inspired to experience what Jesus did, and to do as he did: heal the sick, love the outcasts, and accept all in compassion' ... love the outcasts ... now, that WOULD be nice ... :)

Ah yes, one of yesterday's MANY links from DharmaGate is here & it has a most interesting cursor 'chant' ... must see if I can do likewise ... :)

Just after midnight last evening, to cap off a LONG day ... click

Also from yesterday's wanderings - next time I visit the aquarium, I must take some stale bread. The sparrows on the outside balcony near the restaurant are a tad braver than the ones in my backyard. They came right up close even though I had nothing to offer them ... :)

Watched an interesting old episode of STTNG called 'Remember Me' ... all about how a person's thoughts can & do change/create their reality ... and letting go ... and trusting yourself ... and people having powers they have barely begun to suspect let alone cultivate ... hmmm :)

Must remember to search a bit more info on that episode for all you who read these words but can't pop over to watch my video. If you worked a bit harder on your astral travelling maybe you could ... :)

Added a couple more to my 'random site generator' ... including:

Vision of Awakening {check if link is still valid - it's a wonderful piece - should send it to spiritual sanctuary as well}

as well as Dharma Gate & Cave in Snow excerpts & that interview ...

This morning I scri9bbled somethin down about laws ... the refugee 'situation' has everyone madly dashing off to quote the relevant International law or maritime law which applies ... how about the law of karma and recognising it could just as easily be you in that boat or one of you 'loved ones' (these days I actually see that term as quite unhealthy really because you're dividing & categorising your fellow beings into those you (can) love & those you don't or can't ... but I digress) ... and there's every chance in this lifetime or in a subsequent one you will be the one in desperate need of assistance ... and what goes around comes around ...

Plus the aboriginals and how they managed to live quite nicely for 40,000 before rudely interrupted by us whiteys and they had no need for WRITTEN laws ... makes you wonder ... :)

Decided today's as good a day as any to send it along - 61605

... and the first time I test it online I get sent to the Genghis Blues site ... and then a couple of seconds later I get disconnected. That's curious ... :) And I had a couple of things to search for based on a little stroll around a booksale in the Dandenong Plaza this morning ...

... like George Fowler & 'learning to dance inside (& some other title about a 'fallen monk') ...as well as bone cave near the weld river in Tassie ... oh well, there's always next time as they say ...

George's book

More books ...

Soul surfing

ditto

More email cards - including G'day from Australia ... :)

Amazing ... I look up 'Joshua Tree' (due to a recent email from one of my correspondents } ... and a 'wildflowers' link ... what do i first see - click ... :)

... and if that aint enuf, the second site I checked has this ... NOT entirely sure if that's a cactus ... :) In fact, it may well be a Joshua tree ...

... it keeps coming ...

Click on the little birdie ...

... :)

Hey, remember that show I said was the 'silliest ever' ... well, one of the most succinst pieces of wisdom you'll ever hear - "Fear makes us do strange things". Of course, it was spoken in the context of a woman fearing losing her 'one true love' to another, so it wasn't entirely a crystal clear view of reality but nevertheless ... :)

More postcards ... :)

Looks like Joshua Tree is a good spot for a bit of rockclmbing ... 'our emphasis is to create a safe & fun experience'

And just in case you haven't had enough of Joshua tree for one day ... here are some nifty photos ... including, you guest it, cactus! ... :) {A 270k photo infact ...}

Actually, that site seems to have quite a few sharp, detailed pics ...

For some reason, I have a good feeling about these numbers - generated around 4:44 PM Australian time - 16, 2, 4, 33, 12, 11, 26 ...

More e-mails ... about various things ... and how I still have yet to check out a LOT of those links from Dennis. I was familiar with quite a few of them but others look interesting, if their names are anything to judge by (NOT that I'd ever wish to be accused of judging a book by its cover or a site by its name). Sites such as www.embracedbythelight.com & www.meditationtherapy.com & www.lovewithoutend.org & www.portalsofspirit.com & www.teachonlylove.com & www.innerpeacemusic.com & many others sound wonderful. I must check them out myself when I'm online next ... :)

Plus blessing books & raising the dead, healing the sick ... and why DO we laugh at such suggestions ... plus how we {enlightened?} Aussies can call each other slack bastards and generally no offence is taken ... plus karma & how one good turn deserves anudder ... etc

August 1 to 15      Journal Menu      September 2001

Lovely pic from Rose's birthday in 2000 - Olivia & Rose in the kitchen at Bunyip looking angelic - the kind of photo that invariably evokes the comment 'Isn't it a shame they have to grow up' ...
