The manifestation of the Law of Karma (effect follows cause) happens divinely. It is God acting in the innermost, highest spiritual manner. Earth-bound humans are blind to this subtlety and every day we are challenged by the unexpected. You may truly love your daughter and she may kill you. You may work diligently with unpaid overtime, and someone else gets the promotion that your earthly viewpoint says you deserve. Take heed! This attachment to an expectation, this presumption, cumulatively causes vast needless suffering when multiplied by the billions on this planet. Let go and let live! God moves in mysterious ways! Karmic return happens in God's timing, not yours!

There are infinite examples for how to elevate your perspective; take for example, fire. A budding author wrote prolifically in her Tasmanian home for years. She published just one story. A fire burnt down her house destroying all copies of practically all her work. From her devastation she resolved to renew herself and she has produced far more deep work which has been highly acclaimed and given much joy to many. (True story) Without that fire would she have brought new life to her work?

Another example, theft. A man celebrated his 50th birthday with numerous friends with great joy. He looked forward to reliving the joy from the photos he took. His house was robbed. Only two main things were stolen- a gold necklace his son had found and given to his wife, and his camera with the undeveloped photos. After the initial disappointment he realised God did not want him to cling to things of the past, and the jewelery was never his family's anyway. The thief had unconsciously been God's instrument to challenge two egos. (True story - the man was me.) If you ever suffer a theft (or any crime for that matter), elevate the event into a spiritual understanding and send your blessings and love to the agent. "You only have (for eternity) what you give away (or release freely)."

How many people have their spiritual development stalled, perhaps for many years, due to attachment?

Trust in God. Have the intention, do the loving service, but be understanding, not disappointed, with the outcomes.
