* Blessings from Children *

Recent events jolted me to ponder the struggles of children world-wide and this has awakened my empathy and compassion like never before.

I feel for the millions of children born into or growing in war zones with shocking terrifying explosions and bloodshed suddenly shattering their child lives.

I feel for the vast millions of children hungry and ill, desperate for a morsel of food, going to any lengths to obtain sustenance, working in third world sweat shops (so we can enjoy low prices), even scavenging rubbish tips or prostituting their small bodies, to live another day on Earth.

I feel for the neglected children of the party set, of drug addicts and alcoholics.

I feel for the children left alone or with inadequate care as workaholic parents pursue their material dreams.

I feel for the children bullied and severely teased at school.

I feel for the children of parents in the public limelight, witnessing scornful non-loving words against their parents who are simply following their destinies—be they company directors, royalty, film stars, or church or spiritual leaders.

I think of their child frustrations, confusion, and anger as they struggle to adapt to their extreme physical or emotional environments, and my heart weeps in compassion. Then I remember:

All children are the embodiments of infinite, immortal souls - souls that have always lived and will always live, that choose life experiences to give to the world and to receive the lessons that service gifts.

These child strugglers deserve our admiration, our worship, and our eternal compassion, gratitude and support; and the best way we can honour these blessed souls is by being the change we want the world to be.

I recall my pilgrimage to India and witnessed the magnitude of poverty, of young children with hungry bellies begging, yet my most memorable impression was their love radiation - a smile on their faces, their trust in God, and their acceptance of their lives. I was humbled and it truly taught me that joy is not a result of circumstance, but a choice of heart.

May we live every moment of our perhaps more comfortable lives with humble gratitude for these child strugglers and the souls of those who passed the veil so young. They are the angels that are the way-showers, filling in the potholes of life's bumpy uncertain road to help our journey with God. May their lives be rewarded by our change, by our loving and understanding service to all.

May we pierce the veil of earthly illusion and see the myriads of angels, embodied and disembodied, silently loving, helping, guiding and inspiring these children to live yet another day. May we amplify that loving vision.

In honour of these children, I invite you to show your gratitude to God's abundance by donating to the Sandy Happy Children's Home, an orphanage for children who have lost parents to the AIDS epidemic sweeping Africa. Click http://www.sandyhappychildrenshome.com/donations.asp

God blesses everything and everyone all of the time (despite our limited perceptions)

With all my love,
James Fricker
