News June 2007 Another month has gone by, and it is time to update the news, as we have missed a month due to other committments. Some of the maulers have put together an indoor soccer team, comprising Sandra, Allana, Francesco and Stacey as leader, and they play hard, sometimes too hard. Shani was only one of a small few who survived a senior grading to make it through to 3rd kyu in late May, after a big attrition rate on the night, it only goes to show, that hard work and hard training brings rewards. With gradings on us again after a short month, we had a small number attend the June gradings at Deer Park, with Georgia and Gordana grading to 4th Kyu (red), in what they describe as an easy grading, our two Amy's graded to their respective belts, young Amy to blue, and our teen Amy to Orange, Peter after a long time off due to a slight injury late last year, attempted and succeeded in grading to Green, well done Peter. Late in the month, we welcomed the return of Clinton, who came back after a 16 month break, his worry was that he was a little rusty, but once he got started, he was fine, his kata needs a bit of work, but he expected that. We also say hello to Brendon, who has returned after a few month break, both he and Clinton did well during the class, with Wayne and Alex helping them through the class. The cold and wet days and nights have kept a few of the younger students at home, but those brave enough to attend training, were worked hard and all thoughts of the cold being forgotten. We welcome new student Marcus, a 6th kyu student, who has just return to Australia from Japan, where he gained most of his training, welcome along to Melton.
