Countryfied
Presented by Alex McMurray.
I've been with the station since December 1987, commencing with a 3 hour program on a Thursday night from 9 pm, initially just as an announcer, and over the years, branching out into behind the scenes activities.
This was when the station was in an office space in the managerial area of the Regional Shopping Centre, now Woodgrove.
While at Woodgrove, The Just Jazz program was born, with Bryce Aston, John Brick, Roy Gabb and my self taking turns to present as large a variety of jazz as we could, over the years, the announcers changed but the format remained the same.
I took over the Sunday Country program from the late Dan Green, when he left the station to pursue other activities, this I presented for 3 years, until the preasures of home life forced the show to close.
For over 15 years, I have been the voice of the Community Diary, and quite a number of Sponsorship ads and station promos.
After the move to our current location in Mowbray College, I took on the role of Station President for 2 years, and following Roy Gabb, as team leader of the production / programming sub committee.
In March 1999, I moved from a nighttime spot on Thursday night, to a morning daytime program on Tuesdays at 10 am, still with the same format, comedy, music and old time radio shows.
In February 2002, I commenced broadcasting the Countryfied program on Mondays at 10 am, and until the end of the year, the Tuesday program also, this finished at the end of 2002. In June of 2003, with fellow announcer Colin Vinton, we commenced the broadcasting of the Comedy Overnight Program, initially a once a month 7 hour comedy show from Midnight Friday until 7 am Saturday morning.
This was expanded in mid 2005, with the Best Of shows, presented on a weekly basis, and also featuring old time radio shows from both the U.S. and the BBC, I'm pleased to say that the show is going well.
In mid 2006, we added the U.S. comedy music program, The Mad Music Show, to the comedy line-up, with equally great success.
